You can apply to the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board to:

  • get your landlord to do the repair or maintenance work
  • get some rent bak for the time the repair was not done
  • get your landlord to pay you back if you paid for the repair
  • get your landlord to pay you for the inconvenience of not being able to enjoy your home
  • be able to move without giving proper notice
  • do anything else that will help solve your repair problem

The Landlord and Tenant Board has a regional office in Hamilton. Its hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, except holidays.

An application and supporting documents may be filed under the Tenant Protection Act in person, by mail, or by fax at any of the regional offices.
